Opening Doors: Youth Inclusion in the Arts
Pure expression from London’s next generation. Tafari & Joshua join forces with George the Poet to champion youth in the arts.
This summer, young changemakers Tafari and Joshua took centre stage at The Art of Expression, a bold, immersive exhibition created by George the Poet in collaboration with London’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU).
Held inside Frameless, the cutting-edge digital art space in Marylebone, the event was a celebration of truth, power, and potential, centring young voices and their right to shape culture on their own terms
Backed by the VRU, the exhibition formed part of a wider commitment to tackle the root causes of violence by investing in opportunities, community, and creativity for young Londoners. The VRU works to address systemic inequality, champion youth leadership, and put prevention over punishment.
The Art of Expression brought together over 200 young people to experience spoken word, sound, and visuals in an immersive space. The aim? To create a platform where young people don’t just participate – they lead.
Joshua and Tafari’s performances stood out for their honesty, lyrical quality, and emotional depth – reminding us all what it looks like when young people are given space to own their narrative.
This project offered young people a space to be seen, heard, and valued. Congratulations, Tafari and Joshua. You brought your passion to the stage and proved exactly why more spaces like must be created for the next generation.
