Dream Big Programme: Building Confidence, Skills and New Opportunities
Over the past six months, our Dream Big programme funded Lambeth Made has supported young people aged 16–30 in Lambeth who had been out of education, employment or training.
Through weekly one-to-one mentoring, skills workshops, wellbeing support and work experience, participants were supported to build confidence, develop their skills and work towards their individual goals.
Building confidence and ambition
For one 24-year-old participant, Dream Big provided regular, personalised support to help him build confidence, recognise his strengths and take a more positive approach to his future.
Through one-to-one mentoring, CV and interview workshops, resilience training and the SPEAR Essential Skills Programme, he was encouraged to reflect on his goals, identify areas for development and become more confident in the skills and experience he already had.
His experience highlighted the value of having consistent mentoring and achievable goals, giving young people the space to build confidence, raise their ambitions and feel better prepared for their next steps.
Abeil’s success story
Abeil, who first connected with Spiral Skills through the Dimz Inc. Academy, continued his development through Dream Big, accessing mentoring and opportunities to support his ambitions within the creative industries.
With a passion for video editing, Abeil was able to build on his existing skills through real-world experience. This included completing editing work for Together We Succeed, where he worked to client briefs and developed his understanding of delivering creative work in a professional setting.
Abeil also gained experience with Domino Recording Company, giving him valuable exposure to the fast-paced creative industry and helping him understand the importance of networking, building professional relationships and adapting within a professional environment.
The Dream Big programme gave young people consistent support to build confidence, develop their skills, gain experience and become better prepared for their next steps.
A huge congratulations to Abeil and all the young people who took part in the Dream Big programme. We wish them all the best as they continue to build on their progress and pursue new opportunities.
We’d also like to say a big thank you to Lambeth Made and all of the work experience partners who provided young people with valuable opportunities to gain real-world experience, develop their skills and learn within professional environments.
